About Nomadic Stan

Living Differently. Learning Honestly. Sharing What Actually Matters.

Nomadic Stan isn’t a travel blog built on highlight reels or bucket lists. It’s a living record of what happens when you choose a different path — one shaped by curiosity, mistakes, reinvention, and real-world experience across countries, cultures, and lifestyles.

This site exists for people who aren’t just dreaming about travel, living abroad, or starting over — but are seriously considering it, or already doing it.

My Story (The Short, Honest Version)

I’m Stan — a retired Air Force veteran, lifelong traveler, and someone who chose experience over comfort long before it became trendy.

My life has taken me through:

  • Military service

  • A long, varied professional career

  • Years of domestic travel across the U.S.

  • Full-time Class B van living

  • Extended time living abroad, especially in Latin America

Along the way, I didn’t just visit places — I lived in them. I learned how systems work (and don’t), how culture reshapes your expectations, how relationships change when you leave your home country, and how freedom often comes with trade-offs no one talks about.

Nomadic Stan was created to document that side of the journey.

What This Site Is Really About

This site isn’t about convincing you to travel, retire abroad, or live on the road.

It’s about helping you understand what those choices actually involve.

Here, you’ll find:

  • What living abroad really feels like after the honeymoon phase

  • How culture and lifestyle differences affect daily life

  • Real stories about dating and relationships outside your home country

  • Practical realities of retirement and relocation abroad

  • Lessons learned from long-term travel and van life

Everything here is written from lived experience — not theory, not trends, not recycled advice.

Who Nomadic Stan Is For

This site is for:

  • People considering living abroad or retiring overseas

  • Travelers who want depth, not just destinations

  • Those curious about cross-cultural relationships and dating abroad

  • Veterans and retirees looking for alternative lifestyles

  • Anyone questioning whether the traditional path is the only path

If you’re looking for perfection, luxury-only travel, or influencer-style content — this probably isn’t for you.

Why You Can Trust What You Read Here

I don’t write from assumptions.

I write from:

  • Years of lived experience

  • Long stays, not short vacations

  • Successes and mistakes

  • Adjusting plans when reality didn’t match expectations

I’ve learned things the hard way so you don’t have to — and I’m honest about where I got it wrong.

What Nomadic Stan Is

Nomadic Stan is a living resource for people who want more from life than a fixed routine and one permanent address. It’s for travelers, retirees, digital nomads, veterans, and curious minds who are considering life abroad, long-term travel, or alternative ways of living.

This site blends firsthand experience with practical insight — from living overseas and navigating new cultures, to understanding lifestyle shifts, relationships abroad, and the realities behind relocation. Everything shared here comes from lived experience, not recycled advice.

Nomadic Stan isn’t about escaping life. It’s about redesigning it with intention.

What Nomadic Stan Is Not

Copy:
Nomadic Stan is not a hype-driven travel blog or a “get rich abroad” fantasy platform. It doesn’t sell shortcuts, illusions, or unrealistic expectations about life in other countries.

You won’t find exaggerated promises, influencer-style storytelling, or one-size-fits-all advice here. Living abroad, dating across cultures, retiring overseas, or choosing van life all come with trade-offs — and those realities are addressed honestly.

This platform respects complexity, personal responsibility, and informed decision-making above all else.

Why I Share This Life

I didn’t set out to build a “travel brand.” I set out to live differently — and over time, that decision reshaped how I see money, time, relationships, and freedom.

Nomadic Stan exists because I’ve spent years living on the road, living abroad, navigating new cultures, and learning what works the hard way. Not through hype — through experience. Some choices paid off. Others taught me exactly what not to do.

What I share here is practical, grounded, and honest. No fantasy lifestyles. No polished influencer narratives. Just real perspective from someone who chose movement over routine and stayed long enough to understand both the rewards and the tradeoffs.

Nomadic Stan Is For You If…

This site is for people who are thinking beyond the default path — especially if you see yourself in any of the following:

  • People considering living abroad, even part-time, and wanting real-world context before making the leap

  • Retirees or near-retirees exploring international living, slower travel, or lower-cost lifestyles

  • Solo travelers who value culture, connection, and depth, not just sightseeing

  • Veterans and independent-minded individuals who want freedom without chaos

  • Anyone tired of surface-level advice and looking for experience-based insight, not theory

(If that resonates, you’re in the right place.)

NomadicStan Is Not For You If…

  • You’re looking for shortcuts, guarantees, or “easy” lifestyles

  • You expect everything abroad to feel comfortable or familiar

  • You want curated perfection instead of honest reality

  • You’re chasing status, flex culture, or social media validation

  • You’re not willing to adapt, learn, or sit with discomfort

Nomadic Stan isn’t about telling you what to do. It’s about showing you what’s possible — clearly, honestly, and without illusion.
